Chelsea Transfer News: According to reports, Thomas Tuchel has been informed by the Blues’ players that Richarlison should be brought in to take Romelu Lukaku’s position.

After a dismal performance last season under Tuchel, the 29-year-old Belgian international returned to Inter Milan on a season-long loan. Last summer, Lukaku was brought in with high hopes, but he fell short.

Since joining the Blues last August for £97.5 million from Inter, he has only scored eight Premier League goals.

Lukaku has accepted a significant pay cut from his weekly salary of £325,000 to £210,000 as part of the £7 million loan agreement between Inter and Chelsea. The striker was a vital player for the Milan side as he score 64 goals in 95 games.

Lukaku’s absence will necessitate Chelsea to find a replacement. The team has reportedly requested Tuchel acquire Richarlison, according to The Sun. The Everton talisman, 25, is hailed as one of the best Premier League players not currently playing for a so-called “Big Six” team.

Richarlison joined the club in the summer of 2018. He has made 152 appearances for the Toffees and scored 53 goals. In fact, he even scored the game-winning goal in the 1-0 home victory over Chelsea last season. This was one of the results that kept Frank Lampard’s team in the Premier League.

Also a seasoned international, Richarlison is anticipated to play for Brazil in the World Cup. In 2019 he won the Copa America and won the gold at the Summer Olympics in Japan last year. Brazil remains one of the favourites to win the World Cup.

Chelsea is reportedly examining a number of attacking possibilities, including Raheem Sterling of Manchester City and Ousmane Dembele of Barcelona. However, it seems as though Richarlison is the team’s top pick for a target.

The Brazilian apparently wants out of Everton and would be able to play Champions League games if he signs for Chelsea. His current contract has two years left in it. Richarlison has played for Watford, Fluminense, and America Mineiro in the past.

Following the departure of director Marina Granovskaia, Tuchel is anticipated to have more influence over moves this summer. Following weeks of rumours, Chelsea has officially confirmed the transfer guru will leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The announcement comes less than a month after Todd Boehly’s group successfully acquired the Premier League team. While a new hierarchy is established, Boehly will serve as the interim sporting director in the place of longtime chairman Bruce Buck.

“As custodians of Chelsea FC, we now begin executing our long-term vision and plan for the Club, producing an extraordinary experience for its passionate, devoted fans, and continuing to fight for top honours in keeping with Chelsea FC’s illustrious past,” said Boehly.
