Chelsea’s Transfer News: Ousmane Dembele’s journey at FC Barcelona has been an awkward one. The French international came in as one of the brightest prospects in Europe to Camp Nou.
However, now that he leaves, he’s been deemed as a player who is very inconsistent and cannot be guaranteed as a dependent goal scorer. Additionally, his persistent injuries have not made things easy as well.
Moreover, his high price tag makes things difficult as well for him. Dembele came in for a fee of £121 million. That’s a very high price tag and hence comes a lot of responsibility with it.
In his four seasons at FC Barcelona, Ousmane Dembele has managed to score just the 18 goals in 87 appearances. Those are not good numbers for someone who was brought in to replace Neymar Jr.
FC Barcelona have made it clear that either Ousmane Dembele renews his contract, or he must look for a new club as he will become a free agent in the summer.
A lot of clubs are interested in the French forward and one of them is Premier League club Chelsea. Moreover, it has now been reported that Ousmane Dembele’s agent is in London to finalise a deal for his player. Chelsea have been eyeing Dembele for some time now, and this could be their ideal time. FC Barcelona are looking to cash in as they don’t want to lose him out as a free agent.
Thomas Tuchel could welcome Ousmane Dembele in the January transfer window as Barcelona look to part ways with him. Moussa Sissoko, Dembele’s agent, is keen to get down a contract for Dembele before the transfer window closes next week.
Chelsea Transfer News: Thomas Tuchel gives his views on Ousmane Dembele transfer
Amidst all the transfer news of Ousmane Dembele joining Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel has spoken about the player. Tuchel praised Dembele highly and has said that he was lucky to have coached him. This has further fuelled the news surrounding Dembele joining Chelsea.
“He’s a very good player, and I am very fortunate to have trained him in my time at Dortmund. It was only one year, it should have been longer, but I needed to leave and he decided to leave,” the German coach said.
“We are not in close contact, we have met here and there because of his duties for the French national team when I was in Paris. “
“We exchanged some messages. I have absolutely no idea why he is in this situation, I don’t know the details, so it’s better not to talk.”
