Kounde has established himself as one of the best centre-back’s in the La Liga. Chelsea wanted to sign him last season but Sevilla’s asking price was the hurdle. The La Liga side wasn’t willing to reduce their asking price then.
Chelsea have been in desperate need of a new central defender in recent weeks. Antonio Rudiger left the club for Real Madrid as a free agent. On the other hand, Andreas Christensen poised to go after being placed on the club’s released list.

“The player, I am sure, respects Sevilla FC,” he told Sport Witness. He enjoys our company. It is not a question of money in Kounde’s case.
“I am confident he is a player who is interesting for teams like Chelsea, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and these types of teams,” he says. He desires to be a part of a team that is more competitive.”
Of course, after failing to recruit Kounde a year ago, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea can be successful this time. Jose Maria Cruz has explained why Sevilla turned down Chelsea’s offer, implying that a move could be on the cards in the near future.
“The story of Jules Kounde is extremely comparable to the case of Diego Carlos [who has joined Aston Villa],” he stated. We received offers for Jules Kounde in the previous two seasons, but always in the summer market.
“We turned down this player because we believed he might improve his performance. Because the market was dismal at the time, it was best to wait. We reasoned that if we waited a little, we’d be able to get additional money.”
