Chelsea Transfer News: Chelsea is looking to fix their issues at left-back. They have launched an inquiry for Juventus star Alex Sandro to help them do so.
Sport Witness has reported that Chelsea has switched their focus to Juventus star Alex Sandro to resolve their problems at left-back before the transfer market closes on January 31. The Blues do not want to sign anybody on a long-term basis. They just need interim cover until the conclusion of the campaign.
Following a month and a half of Covid infections and injuries, Chelsea has had unsatisfactory results on the field.
They have suffered in their contention for the Premier League championship. However, they remain in competition for the Carabao Cup and the right to defend their Champions League title.
Thomas Tuchel wants to give cover to his full-backs
A new midfielder and a striker were on Thomas Tuchel’s list of targets for the January transfer window when the market opened. His view has altered as a result of the injuries sustained by important players Ben Chilwell and Reece James. He is now looking for individuals who can temporarily fill in for his respected full-backs.
Because the right side is still relatively well protected, the left-hand side needs more reinforcement. Chelsea attempted all they could to get Emerson Palmieri back from his loan at Lyon.
However, the French club turned down all of their requests for his return. The Italian was the club’s first choice. The team tried to avoid signing permanent agreements with any of the available players on the market.
Chelsea was interested in signing Lucas Digne from Everton in the past. However, the Frenchman eventually signed for Aston Villa instead. The club is now anxious to get a player before the transfer window closes.
Because they do not have the option of recalling Emerson, they are on the hunt for possibilities that may only last a short period. While they are not hesitant to recruit anybody for the long term, they are primarily interested in finding a competitor for Marcos Alonso.
Chelsea Transfer News: Will they be able to sign Alex Sandro?
Chelsea has previously enquired about Juventus’ Alex Sandro. He has emerged as a possible option for the Premier League champions. The Italian club has yet to react to a request for comment on the player’s availability. It is deemed critical to their season’s progression. His performances have been relatively lacklustre in his 27 appearances across all competitions to this far.
Chelsea may approach Juventus with a temporary transfer proposal until the end of the season. The club would almost certainly refuse the offer.
The Italian club may be interested in a permanent move. It is something that the Blues are not interested in at the time. Sandro is 31 years old and does not constitute a long-term solution for the Premier League club. This means they may search for other options in the following days.
