European Football’s transfer window is closing down on February 2nd Monday and Premier League giants Chelsea FC is yet to splash up the January window. The Blues got some action plans for the mid-season window and some of them probably happen on the deadline day.
Former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel is in town and Chelsea is revamping their potential under the new manager. Here are the five major deals the Blues would consider on the final day of the January transfer window.
Kepa’s possible exit
Spanish young goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was a celebrated option in Stamford Bridge when he signed for the Blues in 2018. The player has been tagged as the future of Chelsea but failed to keep the momentum in front of the goal.
Now, Senegalese option Eduardo Mendy is settling up in the goal for Chelsea. He is finding more consistency with the ball. The 28-year-old option would remain for few years as his contract lasts till 2025 and it can affect the existence of Kepa in Stamford Bridge.
Donnaruma in the goal
AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has been a long term interest for Chelsea since his upheaval in Italy. The youngster is the first option in front of the goal in San Siro. The 21-year-old is out of contract this summer and a contract extension is not in consideration as per the reports from Milan. (Mirror)
If Tuchel approves the exit of Kepa Arrizabalaga this window, Donnaruma should be the possible replacement for the Spaniard. Kepa was not up to his form under former manager Frank Lampard and fans are keen to find the reaction of Tuchel.
Emerson Palmieri’s disappointment
Brazilian left-back Emerson Palmieri is out of favour in Chelsea as the Blues are preferring experienced Marcos Alonso and newly recruited Ben Chilwell. Both of them are working on rotation in the left-back position and keeping the form.
This leaves Emerson on the bench as the player has got one more year in his contract in West London. According to the rumors, Serie A side Inter Milan is interested in the player and Chelsea consider some business today to make maximum out of the deal.
Learning plans for Billy Gilmour
The Scottish midfielder of Chelsea is a long term project for the future of the Blues. He has got a kind of spark in the midfield. But needs some learning as far as the playing time is concerned. Thomas Tuchel would probably consider a loan out deal for the teenager.
As per the reports of DailyMail, Southampton is interested in the player and might come up with a deal this afternoon. Gilmour is a creative option in the midfield and he can replace the senior lineup of Chelsea in the course of time.
Oliver Giroud’s retirement plans
The World Cup Winner Giroud has is a reliable attacking option for Chelsea. He is a typical centre-forward and can guarantee goals with great sense of purpose in the penalty box. The 34-year-old Frenchmen is into his last months of contract with Chelsea.
The summer of 2021 would make him a free agent. It is not sure that the Blues let him leave in the mid-season window. But he can win some money for Chelsea there are possible buyers for the player. He had a great time in Stamford Bridge featuring in 107 games from which he scored 37 goals.
