Chelsea Transfer Update: Real Madrid and Chelsea are focused on signing Atalanta defender Merih Demiral, a 23-year-old Turkish international player who is currently on loan from another Serie A club Juventus.
In a report by Turkish publication Fanatik, it is said that Real Madrid and Chelsea are both interested in signing Merih Demiral. They are planning to sign Demiral during the summer transfer season. For this season, the 23-year-old defender is on loan from Serie A club Juventus. La Dea is prepared to take him permanently before reselling him for a profit.
After leaving Turkish club Alanyaspor, Merih Demiral signed with Sassuolo. He has been in Italy since January 2019. His signing by Juventus came in July of that year, after only half of his first season in Serie A.
However, Demiral’s move to Turin did not go as well as expected. It happened due to a string of injuries that plagued him for a long period of time. Therefore, it came as little surprise when he agreed to join Atalanta on a season-long loan in August of 2021.

The 23-year-old has proven to be a reliable defender for La Dea. He made 19 appearances across all competitions, contributing two goals and one assist in the process.
The Turkish defender’s achievements for the Serie A club have attracted the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs. Real Madrid and Chelsea are both interested in signing him on a free transfer this summer.
It has already been reported by sources that Real Madrid and Demiral are focused on one another. Real Madrid’s interest in the teenage defender appears to be more genuine at the moment. This is because manager Carlo Ancelotti is anxious to solve some of the concerns that have arisen in his team’s defensive unit.
Real Madrid should spend on a center-back. Despite the departures of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane from the club, David Alaba was the club’s only defensive signing last summer.
A number of central defenders, including Nico Schlotterbeck, have surfaced on their radar in order to achieve this goal. Demiral is also a possible target. Los Blancos, on the other hand, will have to beat off competition from Chelsea in their pursuit of the 23-year-old.
