Sunday’s mega clash in the English Premier League will see Champions League winner, Liverpool lock horns with Europa winners, Chelsea. This will be the second time in this season the two teams clash off against each other, the first clash being in the UEFA Super Cup when the Merseyside club defeated the London club 5-4 in penalties.
Liverpool will look to extend their five-point gap at the top of the table after Manchester City ran a rout of 8-0 against Watford. Chelsea has en in pretty good form after Frank Lampard administered an impressive victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers courtesy to a Tammy Abraham hat trick. Surprisingly, both Chelsea and Liverpool have lost their Champions League opening fixture midweek. Liverpool lost their clash against Napoli while Chelsea crashed to Valencia.
Liverpool will start the match with a cautious approach. Jurgen Klopp’s side succumbed to a 1-0 defeat thanks to an Oliver Giroud strike last year May. Klopp will field a full team with Salah, Mane, and Firmino leading from the front. Side backs, Alexander Arnold and Andy Robertson are favorites to start as Adrian will start in goal replacing injured Allison Becker. Frank Lampard’s Chelsea will not be so lucky fielding a strong playing Xi as midfielder, Mason Mount is. unlikely to play after taking a nasty blow in the champions league opener. Kante is also injured and is unlikely to start. Lampard will once again have to rely on Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic as to inspire a miracle against Liverpool.

Lampard’s weak link in the team should be undoubtedly his defense as Tomori and Christensen have been vulnerable in the back time and again. Apzilecueta also seems to be out of shape leaving Emerson as the only formidable defender in the back four. Tomori and Christensen will have a tough time keeping the likes of Mane and Salah in check as Shaqiri will also likely to haunt in the second half of the score do not stay in Liverpool’s favor. Klopp’s only worry would be the absence of Allison Becker in goal. The Brazilian’s absence has raised certain eyebrows in Red’s performance.
