English Premier League giants Chelsea are looking like the favourites to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the next January transfer window.
After spending time in the academies including Creteil, Manchester City, Pau FC, and Pole Espoirs, French midfielder Adrien Rabiot joined the youth set-up of Paris Saint-Germain.
He then graduated from the PSG academy and was promoted to the main team. Rabiot was then loaned out to Toulouse so he can get more first-team opportunities. After the end of his successful loan deal, the midfielder returned back to PSG. Rabiot then established himself as one of the most important players of the PSG squad.
The midfielder lifted eighteen major trophies with Paris Saint-Germain. This also includes 5 Ligue 1 titles. The midfielder finally left Paris in 2019 and signed for Serie-A giants Juventus. Adrien Rabiot represents France in international football. He was a part of the French team that won the UEFA Nations League 2021.
Chelsea Interested in Juventus Midfielder Rabiot
Now according to a report from Fichajes, English Premier League giants Chelsea are interested to sign French international Adrien Rabiot from Serie-A outfit Juventus.
Chelsea signed English gaffer Graham Potter just at the end of the last summer transfer window to replace their Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel. Since joining the club, Potter has done exceedingly well.
Under him, Chelsea have managed to turn around their season. They qualified for the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League and are well within the race for a top-four spot in the EPL.
But Chelsea needs some signings in the next transfer window, especially at the central midfield position. The London-based club can actually lose two of their key members in the next transfer window. Club captain Jorginho’s contract will end next summer. Although Chelsea wants to give him a renewal deal, they are not going to match his demands. Hence the Italian international is looking at other options.
Similar to Jorginho, French international N’Golo Kante’s contract will expire at the end of the season. Kante has faced a lot of injuries since last season and missed quite a few matches. Chelsea are currently rethinking his renewal deal.
Hence they need a central midfielder. Now Rabiot’s contract with Juventus will expire in next summer. Although he has been one of the best performers for Juventus recently, they are probably not going to be able to resign him due to financial issues.
So if Chelsea wants the midfielder in January, Juventus will sell him for some transfer money. The Blues earlier tried to sign this midfielder in the summer transfer window. However, they failed to do so and signed another Juventus midfielder Danis Zakaria.
With Zakaria not even seeing a single minute, Chelsea will once again try to sign Adrien Rabiot in January. And finally this time, they will mostly secure their target.
