Chennai Super Kings star makes a heartwarming revelation on MS Dhoni

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni may be at the fag end of his career but the craze surrounding him continues to remain at its peak. This list of fans and admirers is already quite large and continues to grow even as the veteran wicketkeeper batsman ages 37 and is likely to retire following the conclusion of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The latest to join the list has been Chennai Super Kings(CSK) wicketkeeper batsman Narayan Jagadeesan.

Jagadeesan lauded his CSK teammate for his incredible fitness levels even at the age of 37.

“He is supremely fit. You really can’t say he is 37 because of the way he moves, he is so swift around the field. And he is just so calm. He rarely speaks, but those few words lift the team,” Jagadeesan was quoted as saying on the CSK website.

Jagadeesan, who is yet to make his debut in the IPL, admitted receiving tips from the veteran wicketkeeper batsman from time to time.

“You don’t see Dhoni keep at the nets, he is someone who keeps directly in the games. But he is always there to guide you. I will be doing my drills and, at times when Mahi bhai sees me, he takes the time out to come and give me inputs. If I have doubts in my wicketkeeping or batting I go to him,” Jagadeesan said.

Jagadeesan spoke about the feeling of sharing the dressing room with some of the legends of the game and how he benefited from the same.

“To be coming back to the same dressing room is something special. I’m seeking to further my experience and learn more. As a cricketer I really learnt a lot, sharing the dressing room with some of the legends of the game was an experience in itself. I not only got to learn technical stuff. I also got to see how they prepare before a game mentally, how they carry themselves on and off the field,” Jagadeesan concluded.

Dhoni led from the front with 455 runs at 75.83 including 3 half-centuries on CSK’s return to the scheme of things after serving a two-year ban following the spot-fixing scandal of 2013. The Men in Yellow made it to the playoffs and eventually went on to lift their third championship title, the joint most alongside Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians.

Jagadeesan has been a part of CSK’s preparatory camp at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Several other key CSK players including Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina, Mohit Sharma, Karn Sharma and K M Asif have also been training ahead of the all important 12th edition of the tournament. CSK will begin their campaign in IPL 2019 in the opening fixture of the competition against Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) on March 23.
