Barcelona star is not been courted heavily by the Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian, with rumors of a potential move away.
The Barcelona star has recently signed a lifetime contract with the club and has been a part of Barcelona’s best teams for nearly two decades. However, with age playing a major role in his career, the midfielder has had to adjust his gameplay but that hasn’t affected Andres Iniesta. Now 33 year old, the Spaniard is still one of the best to ever play in a Barcelona shirt and aside from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, the best in the current side.
But despite signing a lifetime contract with the Catalan giants, Iniesta has been linked with a move away to China over the last few weeks. According to reports from Marca, Dario Gol and even Spanish news outlet Sport, Tianjin Quanjian are willing to offer the 33-year-old Barcelona star a massive 35 million a year salary, to lure him away from Barcelona.
However, the Chinese Super League club has issued a statement regarding the transfer which went on to say, “Since March 6, 2018, several local media have quoted foreign reports that Spanish player Andres Iniesta is about to join our club. We hereby solemnly announce that those reports are untrue. With regard to all the false stories about us, our club reserve the right to take legal action.”
The 33-year-old has been a crucial part of Barcelona’s midfield trio and with Xavi Hernandez’s departure, Iniesta’s presence has become that much more important. The Spaniard has made over 700 appearances for the Catalan giants, effectively replacing his former manager at the club after 2001.

But Tianjin Quanjin is not the only club after him with reports from both the Daily Mail and the Mirror that former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola wants to bring Iniesta to Manchester City. However, Ernesto Valverde has also had his piece to talk about the rumors saying “If he received an offer I would think about it but at the moment I cannot say anything because I have not even thought about it.
I can not comment on every news reported in the newspapers. Andres is with us, he is going to train with us and what we want is for him to be with us, helping the team, scoring goals, providing assist. At the moment it has only happened with Mascherano and I’m not going to go crazy with this things before they happen.”
Andres Iniesta has been nothing short of brilliant at and for Barcelona, which is exactly why they handed the 33-year-old a lifetime contract. However, with Barcelona itching towards yet another La Liga title and a Champions League crown, there is a small chance that Andres Iniesta could leave. But, retiring at Camp Nou would be even better especially given the fact that he would be regarded as a legend in Catalonia.
