Chris Wilder voiced Sheffield United interest in Arsenal’s U-23 forward

Sheffield United boss, Chris Wilder has opened up on the club’s interest in Folarin Balogun of Arsenal. The highly-rated defender has been a part of speculations in the summer. According to reports from The Mail, Arsenal has already turned down a £3million bid from Sheffield United.

Balogun has emerged as one of the club’s most promising prospects of Arsenal under-23. The 19-year has been impressing at the London Conley in the past couple of seasons. He has scored 10 goals in 15 appearances of Premier League 2 for Arsenal under 23.

Balogun has progressed in the ranks at Arsenal besides Tyreece John-Jules, Matt Smith, and Trae Coyle. The three of them have successfully secured a loan for this campaign.

Chris Wilder has talked about the interest in Arsenal’s wonderkid. The club has inquired about his condition and has offered a £3m bid a week ago for Folarin Balogun. However, they were confident they would be able to strike a deal but Arsenal rejected the offer.

Other clubs keeping tabs on Folarin Balogun

Arsenal, however, is aware of the value of their highly-rated striker turned down a bid. They even ask to come with another suitable bid. Arsenal in turn has asked for £8m and stands firm on their asking price.

Folarin Balogun has not only attracted the attention of Sheffield United. A number of Premier League clubs including the likes of the Crystal Palace, Southampton, Brighton, Brentford, and Liverpool. All of them consider a move for Balogun along with the interest of German clubs.

The New York-born striker is ready to part ways with Arsenal after he expressed his unwillingness to sign a new deal proposed by the Gunners. The 19-year old has only a year left in his contract to run down and will go for new pastures. His representative refused the performance-based contract. Thus, Arsenal is looking for the best offer for the striker.

Along with this, no assurance of the first-team squad was given to the New York-born striker. Moreover, Balogun has to compete with Eddie Nketiah and John-Jules in order to reach the first-team squad. Arsenal is waiting for a suitable offer that would match their demands. But till yet no offer has come their way.

Arsenal also rejected the £6million offer from Brentford in a hope to convince Balogun to stay with Arsenal. The Gunners understand that the young striker wants a different kind of offer. They even suggested a lucrative offer he would hit the targets mentioned in the contract.

Chris Wilder talked about Balogun’s interest

Chris Wilder was asked about their interest in Balogun ahead of the Carabao cup clash against Burnley on Thursday. he told Yorkshire Live that the club made an inquiry and the matter is being handled by the CEO of both the clubs. He also mentioned that the club is looking for quality that would take it forward.

Moreover, he mentioned making an enquiry for quite a few strikers. Wilder is also expecting to land one before the window shuts. As he believes its a key area that decides the game.

Sheffield United is looking to sign another striker before the deadline because Lys Mousset is out of the squad. After he sustained the toe injury. The club is aware of their financial situation and thus would only make offers that will be seen smart to them.

A couple of weeks ago Pierre Emerick Aubameyang posted a single tweet with an hourglass emoji hours before announcing a new contract with Arsenal. In the same way, Balogun has tweeted. This has thrilled Arsenal fans who believe he would soon announce his extension.
