Manchester City are preparing to bid for Napoli’s full back Faouzi Ghoulam as a replacement for injured Mendy whom they bought for a massive £52 million. The Algerian will be out of contract in January, thus City are prepping up for a bid of £3 million.
Ghoulam has been on City’s scouting list for a long time
Manchester City’s boss Pep is highly impressed by the Algerian’s performance in the Serie A so far and has sent City’s scout to watch 26 years old’s game number of times.
City are planning to bring the Algerian early to the Etihad, to replace Mendy who has been sidelined for a very long time after suffering a terrible knee injury.
“Ghoulam has been looked at for a while and Pep is very much interested.
City play Napoli next week and are hoping to steal a march on others about a deal. He’s free to speak to English clubs soon.
Pep is looking for a cheap replacement for Mendy and the scouts have reported some good things.” revealed an Etihad source.
Ghoulam has reportedly rejected a new contract with Napoli and is looking for new challenges out of Italy. City are rumoured to offer him £90,000-a-week and a big signing bonus.
The left-back has played 105 matches for Napoli and has 2 goals adding to his immense defending skills.
City who are in great need of a fullback to replace injured Mendy, will try to close the deal as soon as possible as the Algerian has impressed a number of clubs. Clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool are also setting eyes on the left back as he is about to run out of his contract with Napoli.
It will be interesting to see where Ghoulam will land in January as he is surely looking seek a move out of Napoli.
