The 33-year-old goalkeeper moved from La Liga champions Barcelona to Manchester City at the start of this season but has struggled in the new club. Bravo was named as the first choice goalkeeper at Man City by former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola. But it is very clear that Bravo has been a failure at Etihad so far in this season.

During a press conference last day, Pep Guardiola admits that Claudio Bravo is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Even though Bravo is the first choice, at various occasions Pep Guardiola has used backup goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

When asked about his decision, Guardiola remains confident about Bravo’s technical abilities. “My opinion of Claudio remains the same. He’s a top player, a top goalkeeper. He’s one of the best in the world. His long career speaks for itself,” said Guardiola.

“Football, of course, here is more particular, more crosses, more special things, but, of course, he is a top, top goalkeeper. For me, there’s no doubt about that.”

Throughout this season in the Premier League, Man City has lost some crucial matches due to Bravo’s mistakes.  Pep said “I am not thinking about things that are far away or individual players. The way that you have to play in the game [is what I am focusing on] to keep our rhythm going and our way of playing.”

“It’s been much better in this last period that is what I feel and of course I have to try and get the players ready because we need all of them. That is all I am concerned about,” said Pep Guardiola.

At the start of this season, Guardiola decided to loan out former Man City number one, Joe Hart to Torino. Pep has denied any regrets over his decisions in the past and remains confident in the players he have. He said: “The decision I take is based on what I see, why one player is not here and another is. That’s why I am here.”
