Athletics competitions have been a part of the CWG since the quadrennial showpiece’s inception in 1930. Neeraj Chopra, who won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Dutee Chand, who won silver at the Asian Games last year, and M. Sreeshankar, who holds the national long-jump record, are among the 37 athletes that make up the Indian team.

The Indian women’s hockey team against Wales will be the main event of the day. In addition, four medals in weightlifting will be chosen that day. Sanket Sargar and Gururaja Poojary of India will compete in the men’s competitions, and Mirabai Chanu, who won silver in the Tokyo Olympics, will compete in the women’s 49kg division.
