Antonio Conte has told his players to aim for Champions League qualification this season after their Premier League hopes have been dampened by the unbeaten Manchester City.
Conte’s side find themselves 16 points behind the leaders after an inconsistent season so far. The Blues despite their activity in the previous transfer market did not pose any threat to their title defence since day one of the season.
Conte says to finish in the top four would be a successful season, given there are six teams fighting for the title.

Chelsea took advantage of Manchester United’s draw against Burnley to reduce their difference to just a single point with a win over Brighton and Hove Albion. Chelsea lie third in the table, four points above Liverpool. Conte asserted that he wants his players to maintain their position and not slip down the table. He said:
“In this league, there is great motivation for all to try to stay there and fight until the end. I don’t know if we can do this for the title because it depends on Manchester City, who are doing something extraordinary.”
“To win every game and draw one means you are having a fantastic run. “But there is great motivation to find a place in the Champions League next year, there are four places for six top teams.”
“Our start wasn’t easy for many reasons but we want to work and improve. There are many competitions and we must be very proud to play every game.”
Chelsea’s off-field issues have made matters worse, Conte’s issues with the board and the exclusion of Diego Costa and David Luiz have led the officials to think a potential replacement for the Italian.
Conte on Fixture congestion and Stoke City
Chelsea are set to face The Potters at home who lie 13th on the points table, just 3 points away from the relegation zone. Chelsea defeated Stoke earlier this season where Morata scored a hat-trick.
It’s the first time they’ve played at Christmas,”. “It’s not simple but this atmosphere is great.
“During this period you have your parents, brothers, daughters with you and the family come to watch the game. “It’s a busy period for us but it started in November and will continue through January and February.”
Chelsea are on an unbeaten run at Stamford Bridge after winning their last six home games.
Chelsea fans will have to be content with a top four spot this season as the Premier League looks out of reach at the moment. The Blues still have plenty to look forward to this season as they are still in contention for the Champions League, Caraboa Cup and the FA Cup. Hopefully, some impactful signings by Chelsea can help in the Blues achieving their goals for the season.
