A talented top-order batter, Abhishek Sharma thinks he always performs better when given the opportunity to lead his respective teams.
The youngster captained the Indian team to a title in the U19 Asia Cup in December. In the following month, Abhishek Sharma made his senior domestic debut for Punjab in the 2016-17 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Abhishek led India to a 3-1 series victory in the Youth ODIs against England in 2017. As a result, the talented batter donned the leadership role for the Indian cricket team leading up to the 2018 U-19 World Cup. In the same year, he featured for Delhi Capitals in the IPL as well.
The handy all-rounder is with the Sunrisers Hyderabad team since the 2019 edition. He scored the fastest hundred by an Indian in the List-A format coming in just 42 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021.
Looking at his captaincy in age groups, Abhishek Sharma was appointed as the leader of the Punjab team as well. He got an opportunity to lead the side in the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The 22-year-old often captains the team in the absence of regular captain Mandeep Singh.

Abhishek Sharma was the best batter for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022
Ahead of the 2022 auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought all-rounder Abhishek Sharma. However, he had a forgettable IPL 2021, the franchise trusted his talent due to his impressive form in the domestic circuit.
As a result, Abhishek Sharma was the top-scorer for the Sunrisers Hyderabad 426 runs from 14 innings at a strike rate of 133.12 in IPL 2022. He provided impressive starts to the team and is also useful with his left-arm spin.
On being touted as future SRH captain, Abhishek thinks captaincy has always been luck for him, and can work as a betterment for the team. The results certainly depict that whenever Abhishek has led and scored, the team has won on most occasions.
“If I get SRH captaincy, it’ll be a very big thing for me. I’ve performed better whenever I’ve led any team,” said to News24 Sports.
Abhishek has been the most consistent run-scorer for Punjab in the 2022 domestic season. He hit 302 runs in seven innings of Vijay Hazare Trophy, while returning with 259 runs in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Earlier in August this year, Abhishek Sharma’s all-round show and captaincy skills helped Amritsar to win the Punjab inter-district senior men’s one-day.
