Not long ago, Cheteshwar Pujara came under fire for registering a string of low scores, which ultimately put him under too much pressure. He failed to deliver the goods on a consistent basis.
As a result, the Indian team management took a stringent decision to axe Cheteshwar Pujara from the set-up. The BCCI also advised Cheteshwar Pujara to play domestic cricket to get back to form.
However, Cheteshwar Pujara didn’t lose confidence in himself. Cheteshwar Pujara started from scratch and totally worked on his batting technique.
The right-handed batsman rejoined his domestic team Saurashtra where he scored two half-centuries in three matches of Ranji Trophy 2022.
Moreover, Cheteshwar Pujara had a successful stint with the Sussex cricket team. The veteran cricketer amassed 720 runs in just 8 innings at a stupendous batting average of 120.0.
The right-handed batsman made a stellar comeback to the Indian Test team after he was dropped from the set-up. He played the rescheduled Test match against the England cricket team.
Pujara scored 13 and 66 in the first and second innings of the one-off Test in Edgbaston. Earlier, he failed to attract any bids during the TATA IPL 2022 auction in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, in the latest development, two of India’s Test-playing cricketers namely Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari confirmed that they are not part of the mini-auction.
The upcoming IPL 2023 mini-auction is scheduled to be held on December 23 in Kochi. Several players will go under the hammer for the upcoming auction which is less than three weeks away from getting underway.
Pujara has played 95 Tests for the Indian cricket team. The right-handed batter has scored 6713 runs at a superb batting average of 43.9.
The right-handed batter has slammed 3 double centuries, 18 centuries and 32 half-centuries to his name. On the other hand, Hanuma Vihari has played 16 Tests for India.
Overall, he has scored 839 runs including 1 century and 5 half-centuries to his name. The right-handed batsman registered his personal best score of 111.
