RCB Tribute Virat Kohli, IPL 2023: On Day 2 of the first-ever player auction under the Under-19 player draft system, Virat Kohli, who had helped India win and captained the U-19 World Cup earlier the same year, was signed by the team for a low sum of money. It would turn out to be undoubtedly one of the best decisions RCB has ever made and would probably ever make.
He had a disappointing first season with the team, scoring only 165 runs in 13 games without any match-winning performances the fans were hoping for. However, the team continued to back him and retained him in the coming seasons and he went on to win a lot of matches in subsequent years.
In 2011, Virat Kohli made the National team and won the World Cup and has never looked back again.
He is widely considered one of the best batters of all time and has broken numerous records, a few of which seem unbreakable even. Virat Kohli is the leading run-scorer in T20s and has the most runs among the active players.

Although the IPL trophy has been escaping their grabs for years, The team and Kohli have won millions of hearts around the world.
On the occasion of Kohli’s 15th anniversary with RCB, the team honored him by making a touching post on its official Twitter handle.
It captioned two images of Virat—one from the most recent shoot and one from the 2008 edition—with “15 years of the King in RCB colors.” OnThisDay in 2008, we marked Virat on Day 2 of the #IPLAuction in the Under-19 player draft framework. #ThankYouKing #PlayBold @imVkohli for everything you’ve done and continue to do for us.

Kohli’s contributions to his team
In his 15 years with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kohli has participated in 223 games and scored 6,624 runs. He has scored the most runs in the IPL’s history. He has also smashed as many as 5 centuries, including the most tons in a season which adds up to 4 in the 2016 season. Besides hundreds, he has scored 73 half-centuries in T20s and scored the most runs in an IPL season- 973 runs again in the 2016 season.
As a captain, he led the team to the IPL final in 2016, but they didn’t win the championship. RCB and Kohli were truly unstoppable in the ninth season of the IPL, but the formidable Sunrisers Hyderabad led by David Warner took them down in the all-important match and won the trophy.
After the 2021 IPL season, Kohli quit as captain of RCB and now bats as an opening batsman. Even though he has made a significant contribution to the team, he has not yet won an IPL title, and RCB fans are hoping that this year will be their chance to do so.
Overall, Kohli’s longtime partnership with the RCB has been an amazing journey that has helped him become one of the greatest batsmen ever. Fans will undoubtedly continue to support him as he continues to play for the team, hoping that he can lead them to IPL glory in the near future.
