The glory of Rashid Khan’s T20I career
Rashid Khan was Afghanistan’s first global superstar and was key to his early success in international cricket. His highly effective leg spin has made him one of the best T20 bowlers of all time and one of the top wishes of his name in teams in leagues around the world.
While not a great spinner of the ball, he maintains a stump-to-stump line. He uses speed in the air to apply pressure to the ball like bowling idol Shahid Afridi. His greatest weapon is his precision googly, and he has many variations. With the bat in hand, he was able to push the limit late in the inning, turning a mediocre total into a win for his team. Less than two years later, he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in his IPL for nearly $600,000. After a glorious first season of 17 wickets, he signed a franchise deal with Guyana’s Amazon Warriors and Adelaide Strikers (won BBL title first time).
In 2018, he reached new heights in Afghanistan, where he continued his T20I winning streak of 11 games with a 5-3 victory against Ireland in T20I. He was officially honored as his 2017 ICC Associate Cricketer of the Year. The following year he became the youngest cricketer in the ODI bowling rankings. He is also the youngest man to captain an international team and the fastest ODI 100 wickets.
In his five seasons with the Sunrisers, he was a totemic presence. He took 93 wickets with his 6.33 save percentage. In 2022 Gujarat took his 19 wickets when he joined the Gujarat Titans and led the team to the title.
