Umran Malik is one of the promising fast bowlers of the Indian cricket team. The raw talent is known for his incredible ability to bowl at a swift pace.
He simply troubled the New Zealand’s batters with his pace. On top of that, he succeeded in taking two wickets in his debut ODI match at Eden Park in Auckland.
The right-arm pacer dismissed two key batsmen namely Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell in the ODI opener. Overall, Umran Malik had a decent ODI debut, registering 2/66 in his quota of 10 overs.
During the third and final ODI against the Black Caps, Umran Malik bowled quite well and took the prized wicket of Finn Allen.
Having bowled five overs, he conceded 31 runs at an economy of 6.20. The third and final ODI was abandoned due to rain and hence the game saw no result.
On the other hand, Umran Malik has played three T20Is so far wherein he took 2 wickets to his name. Umran Malik is not named in the ODI squad for India’s tour of Bangladesh.
Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar reserved the highest respect for India’s fast-bowling sensation Umran Malik.
India’s batting great added that the last time he got really excited at seeing an Indian player was Sachin Tendulkar. After Sachin, he said his excited to see Umran Malik.
“The last time I got really excited at seeing an Indian player was Sachin Tendulkar. And after that I am excited to see Umran,” Gavaskar added.

Earlier, former Indian paceman Ashish Nehra said Umran is one of the “shining lights” of the New Zealand tour. The former paceman also praised Umran for the other matches that he played before.
The former pacer added that he has even seen Umran bowl over 20 overs with lightning pace. Umran has impressed the Indian selectors with his bowling spells so far.
