BAN VS IND 2022: After sustaining a clobbering defeat from the Indian cricket team in the first test, the Bangladesh cricket team has roped in left-arm orthodox bowler Nasum Ahmed for the second and final test fixture hosted by Dhaka.
Nasum Ahmed made his international debut last year against New Zealand in a T20 International at Seddon Park and in his inaugural encounter, the debutant Nasum Ahmed bagged two crucial wickets. In his first over, he dismissed Finn Allen for a golden duck, followed by another wicket of Martin Guptill.
Since his debut against New Zealand, the 28-year-old Nasum Ahmed has represented Bangladesh in 28 T20 Internationals and 4 One-day internationals. The southpaw has aggregated 32 T20I scalps in 27 innings with an economy of 7.04 and an average of 19.8.
The Sylhet-spinner Nasum Ahmed was also drafted into Bangladesh’s squad for the recently concluded World T20 2022; where he only attained one chance against Pakistan but returned with exceptional figures of 1/14 in 4 overs without conceding any boundaries.
BAN VS IND 2022: Nasum Ahmed Replaces Injured Ebadot Hossain

Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the arrival of Nasum Ahmed into the test squad on Sunday following a hapless injury faced by Ebadot Hossain during the first test at Chattogram.
The right-arm-medium pacer Ebadot Hossain, who claimed a determining wicket of Shreyas Iyer in the first innings, was declared unfit to bowl in the second innings owing to a side strain. In absence of Ebadot, Bangladesh took the field with only one conventional pace bowler, and wicket-keeper Litton Das was stipulated to bowl a couple of overs.
Habibul Bashar, the Bangladesh selector, said in a statement, “Ebadot received an injury on his back in the first Test. He will not be fit for the second Test. That’s why we took Nasum Ahmed in his place though we have yet to decide whether we would play an extra spinner in Dhaka.”
The 28-year-old Ebadot Hossain is not the only victim of an injury as the Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh team has been vexed with several setbacks in the ongoing tour. The seasoned opener Tamil Iqbal was ruled out from the Indian series due to a groin injury, and the right-arm-pacer Taskin Ahmed also did not participate in the first two ODIs at Dhaka.
Now, it is also being reported that captain Shakib Al Hasan might be sidelined for the second test as he dislocated his shoulder during the first test. Adding to that, In the first innings of the Chattogram Test, the left-arm off-break bowler Shakib Al Hasan only delivered 12 overs and he did not mark his run-up again in the second innings.
Meanwhile, the hosts have also elected to exclude Anamul Haque Bijoy from the test squad but have also preserved Mominul Haque, who did not compete in the series opener.
