On Friday, Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi played Islamabad United in the first Eliminator of PSL. With the PSL Final spot up for grabs, the match always going to be a nail-biting encounter.

Peshawar Zalmi came down to bat first after losing the toss. Babur Azam’s superb knock of 64 runs, along with Mohammad Harris’s 34 helped the side post a respectable total of 184 runs after losing 8 wickets. the opening partnership added 60 runs for the first wicket. After a strong foundation, Peshawar Zalmi posted a massive target of 184 runs with the help of a small cameo played by the middle-order.

Coming down to chase the target of 184, Islamabad United found themselves in trouble in the second over. Their opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz got caught. However, Alex Hales and Maqsood’s partnership of 115 runs helped them get closer to the target. But it all went away as their middle-order and lower-order collapsed in front of the Peshawar bowling attack. Peshawar Zalmi won by 12 runs.

After being recorded by a Twitter user and shared on the platform with the caption “Live fixing caught in PSL”. The video’s authenticity and audio quality are still uncertain. Nevertheless, fans expressed their doubts following the incident.

According to the video, the incident took place at the beginning of the 12th over, and on the sixth ball of that over, Babar was caught in front of the stumps. Although the original tweet containing the video has been deleted. Fans have been questioning the intentions of the cricketers involved in the alleged incident.

Zalmi beat United by 12 runs to book a place in the Eliminator 2. In the second Eliminator, Zalmi met Shaheen Shah Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars and were beaten by 3 wickets. PSL 2023 final was rescheduled from Sunday (March 19) to Saturday (March 18) in wake of the bad weather. The organisers decided to keep Sunday as the reserve day if the rain washed out the game on Saturday.
