Sam Curran, the most expensive buyer at the IPL 2023 auction, England all-rounder and Tournament Man of the Tournament for the 2022 T20 World Cup, was bought once by Punjab at the 2019 IPL. Curran with batting average of 23.75, scored 95 runs in 9 games. He earned an average of 32.3 including an excellent spell of 4/11 and got 10 scalps for the team.

He did not play in IPL 2022 due to injury. However, in IPL 2020 and IPL 2021, he played for CSK. In a total of 32 matches, he struck out 337 runs at an average of 22.47 and 32 scalps at an average of 31.09.
