Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has several players who might not see much playing time during the 2023 season of IPL. One of them is Rajan Kumar.
Despite his impressive performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2022, it is unlikely that he will be able to secure a spot in RCB’s starting XI for the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Rajan had a fantastic run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he played in 7 matches and picked up 10 wickets at an economy rate of 5.88. He continued his good form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and took six wickets in 5 matches at an economy rate of 4.39. RCB was impressed by his performances and signed him at the IPL 2023 auction, but it is uncertain if he will get an opportunity to play in the tournament.
RCB already has a strong pool of Indian fast bowlers like Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, and Siddarth Kaul, who have established themselves in the IPL and are likely to be prioritized over Rajan. It remains to be seen if Rajan will get his chance in the IPL 2023 season.
Sonu Yadav and Karn Sharma
Sonu Yadav is a promising young player in the Tamil Nadu cricketing circles, known for his all-round abilities. He had a strong performance in the 2022 Tamil Nadu Premier League, scoring 107 runs in 9 matches at a strike rate of 152.85 and taking 10 wickets at an economy rate of 7.77.
Despite his impressive performances, it is possible that he may not get a chance to play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) due to the presence of other multi-talented players in the RCB squad like Wanindu Hasaranga, Shahbaz Ahmed and Harshal Patel who have been consistent performers in the T20 circuit, thus making it more likely for Sonu to spend most of the tournament on the bench.
Karn Sharma is a seasoned IPL player who first gained attention in the 2013 season, where he took 11 wickets in 13 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad at an economy rate of 6.60.
Although RCB has retained him for the 16th edition of the IPL, it will likely be difficult for him to secure a spot in the playing XI. This is due to the presence of Hasaranga and Shahbaz, both of whom had a strong performance in the previous season and are likely to be prioritized over Karn.
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Overseas Players
Finn Allen is a young and experienced T20 player, known for his strong performances in this format of the game. He has played in 82 T20 matches, scoring 2270 runs at a high strike rate of 172.75. He has also been successful in international T20s, having scored 567 runs in 25 appearances at an even higher strike rate of 163.40.

It’s possible that Allen will spend most of the tournament on the bench because he is competing for an opening slot with Faf du Plessis, the team’s captain, who is expected to play every game of the season.
David Willey is a well-established player in the T20 circuit, known for his strong all-around abilities. He has played 241 T20 matches, picking up as many wickets at an economy rate of 7.94, and scored 3369 runs at a strike rate of 137.96.
Despite his poor performance in the previous season, RCB has decided to retain him for the upcoming season. However, his chances of playing in the tournament are not high as RCB has several strong players on the team.
