Zimbabwe Cricket has announced the home-grown franchise-based T10 League slated to start in March 2023. The Zimbabwe T10 League will also be known as the Zim Afro T10 league. It is established with the association of Mulk International, who are the founders of the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Mulk Holdings recently won a US$500 000 project from the Zimbabwe government to build Cyber City, a high-tech park.
Abu Dhabi T10 has been a huge success, and the top overseas players have shown great interest in taking part in the tournament. Zimbabwe Cricket team all-rounder Sikandar Raza was a part of Chennai Braves in the Abu Dhabi T10 2022 season.
The first season of the Zimbabwe T10 League will see the participation of a total of six privately owned teams. The tentative starting date of the tournament is said to be March 29. The details about franchises, player auction dates, and fixtures are not yet in the public domain.
In recent years, Zimbabwe Cricket has improved its performance in international cricket. After qualifying for T20 World Cup 2022, they delivered a sensational performance to beat the finalist Pakistan in Super 12.

Zimbabwe Cricket chairperson Tavengwa Mukuhlani thinks Zimbabwe T10 will help transform their game and market the game to a global audience. Furthermore, he hoped that the top players will show their interest in participating in the league.
“As we embark on this hugely exciting journey — in partnership with Mr Shaji Ul Mulk and his company — we are looking to transform our game and create a massive global fan base by providing one of the best platforms in the sport for the world’s top players to showcase their talents.”
ZC managing director Givemore Makoni also echoed similar thoughts on the Zimbabwe T10 League. Moreover, he expressed his excitement to organize the League and ensured entertainment and top-level competition for the fans.
Following the Zimbabwe T10 League announcement, the stage for the shortest format is well set for the year 2023. Recently, Sri Lanka also announced that their home-grown T10 League will start in June 2023.
However, many experienced players will be busy featuring in the IPL during the Zimbabwe T10 League. As a result, the Pakistan players and associate nations will certainly get huge attention.
