Harmanpreet Kaur: The Women in Blue ran through a heart-breaking defeat at the hands of the Australia Women in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 semi-final. The game-changing point was witnessed during India’s run-chase when Harmanpreet Kaur nearly made it to the crease but failed to get her willow past the crease.
The incident happened during India Women’s chase when Harmanpreet Kaur tried to take a single. However, as it turned out, the India Women’s captain failed to ground the bat on time.
Meanwhile, Australia Women’s wicketkeeper quickly dislodged the bails. It was the end of the road for India Women as they were knocked out of the showpiece event.
Australia Women beat India Women by 5 runs at Newlands, Cape Town in the first semi-final. With this special win, the Women in Yellow made it to the finals of the competition.
It was a heartbreaking moment for Harmanpreet Kaur and the India Women’s team. Had it not been for her mistake, India Women would have won the game.

Harmanpreet Kaur gives a befitting response to Nasser Hussain’s remark
Former England captain Nasser Hussain took a dig at Harmanpreet Kaur for her silly mistake while taking a run during the game against Australia Women. In reality, Harmanpreet Kaur nearly made it to the crease. However, her bat got stuck on the pitch which didn’t give the extra surge to go past the crease.
Meanwhile, Nasser Hussain labelled the run-out dismissal of Harmanpreet Kaur as a “schoolgirl error”. His remark has gone viral all over the internet. Meanwhile, the India Women’s captain came up with a perfect reply to Nasser Hussain. “He [Nasser] said that? Okay. I don’t know, that’s his way of thinking but sometimes it happens,” she said after the match.
“I have seen many times in cricket when batters are taking a single like that and the bat gets stuck there. Obviously, I will take it as we were unlucky today, If my bat had not got stuck, I would have finished that run,’” said Harmanpreet.
