Babar Azam Pakistan batsman has been declared the winner of the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2022. He won this award for the second time in a row. He beat leg-spinner Adam Zampa of Australia. Opener Shai Hope of the West Indies. And off-spin all-rounder Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe.
Babar Azam featured just nine ODIs in 2022. But he did most of them, smashing three hundred, and five half-centuries. And only truly failing with the bat in one instance.
Since July 2021, he has occupied the top spot in the men’s ODI player rankings. In the nine games he played in 2022, he scored 679 runs at an astounding average of 84.87. He notched eight scores of at least fifty, three of which he turned into centuries.
Babar Azam had an excellent year leading the Pakistan ODI squad, winning three of the three series. In the ODI category, Pakistan was unbeatable, losing only one game (against Australia) out of nine.

This year, his 114 against Australia in Lahore was his greatest ODI performance. Australia gave Azam a lofty aim of 349, and he delivered a lesson in complete pursuit.
