ILT20: Cricket is totally an unpredictable game and nobody can predict what would transpire on the next delivery. On the other hand, the chances of players getting injured are many these days.
Despite the fact that the players are fit enough to play the game, there are cases when the players pick up some untimely injuries during the passage of the play.
At times, some injuries can be lethal which might as well prevent the player from taking part in the upcoming games as he might have to skip some months for recovery.
Meanwhile, Dominic Drakes made the headlines after he sustained an untimely injury during the International League T20 game between Gulf Giants and Sharjah Warriors.
West Indies all-rounder picked up a scary injury during the game. The injury was so bad that he had to be taken off the field and was sent to the hospital for further medical assistance.
Dominic Drakes represents Gulf Giants in the International League T20. He was quickly taken to the hospital after he suffered immense pain soon after taking the catch.
Guld Giants locked horns with Sharjah Warriors in the 30th match of the ILT20 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. During the 6th over of Sharjah Warriors’ innings, Carlos Brathwaite pitched in with a short ball to Moeen Ali who tried a pull shot.
As it turned out, he couldn’t time the ball in the first place. Meanwhile, Drakes came sprinting towards the ball in an attempt to take the catch.
He even dived to his front in order to grab the ball but his hands got stuck right between his chest and the turf in the follow-through.
As it happened, he ended up injuring his face. The match was delayed for a while before the physio arrived and helped the cricketer to walk off the field.
The injured cricketer was stretchered off the field. After that, he was rushed to the hospital via an ambulance on a stretcher.
