IND vs AUS: The fourth test match between India and Australia has had no shortage of confusion and action. The match is crucial for India as anything less than a win results in India getting out of the World Test Championship 2023 without seeing the finals.
Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have given India a really good start but the former got out playing a totally unnecessary shot which undoubtedly would make him feel disgusted about that.
After spinner Nathan Lyon and stand-in captain Steve Smith were left perplexed by a DRS call that did not go in Australia’s favor, there was a lot of confusion on Day 2 of the fourth Test in Ahmedabad.
Smith and Lyon argued for a long time with the on-field umpire, Richard Kettleborough, seeking an explanation, despite the fact that there was abundant evidence to support the decision to declare Shubman Gill not out. The incident occurred in the Indian innings’ 18th over after openers Gill and Rohit Sharma had given the second day a blistering start.

Australia won the review after what appeared to be a close impact between bat and pad when Lyon pitched the ball on the fourth stump line. The impact was outside off which was helpful for Gill.
Despite the fact that the impact was “three meters” off target, the TV umpire decided to go with the ball tracker, which showed that it would have hit the leg stump. This caused confusion. Kettleborough signaled not to withdraw shortly after, putting Lyon, Smith, and Australia in a difficult position.
Despite Rohit’s contribution from the non-striker’s side, Lyon stood and chatted with the umpire about the decision. Kettleborough kept saying, “Going down,” which indicated that his initial impression was that the ball had completely missed the leg stump. The camera then panted to Steve Smith, who could be heard yelling, “WHAT?” on the stump microphone because he was also intrigued by what had happened. The match resumed after a brief pause when the air was cleared.

However, Rohit chipped a ball from Matthew Kuhnemann straight to Marnus Labuschagne at covers for a soft dismissal. This was a huge blow for India as he was batting really well and gave Australia their first breakthrough. The India captain was gutted to lose his wicket on a pitch that still looks beautiful to bat on when the ball dragged on the pitch catching Rohit off-guard.
While Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara moved along, the dismissal did not hinder India’s run flow. India scored 94 runs in the first session of Day 3 to take their score to 129/1 at lunch, behind Australia by 351 runs, and Pujara also got to 22 not out off 46 balls. Gill scored a fantastic fifty and remained unbeaten on 65.
But now, Shubman Gill has scored a fantastic century which has put India in the driving seat of the match.
