Indian Cricket Team had won the toss & decided to bowl first against the Australian Cricket Team. Hardik Pandya was leading the side in the absence of the regular captain Rohit Sharma who missed due to personal reasons.

At the 20-over mark, Australia were comfortably placed at 129-3. During the 21st over, Kuldeep Yadav was bowling when Virat Kohli suggested a change to the fielding positions.
However, The stand-in captain walked away from the discussion, which made Virat Kohli fume at Hardik Pandya and it appeared visibly he got angry and said something. It is reasonable to assume that Pandya should have listened to Kohli, as he is one of the most senior players on the team.

During the powerplay overs, Australia lost one wicket while scoring 59 runs. Mitchell Marsh was playing aggressively and hitting the ball well. The Indian Cricket Team emerged victorious over Australia in the 1st ODI, winning the match by 5 wickets. The hosts maintained their supremacy over the visitors. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial role in securing the win.
The duo made a match-winning partnership of 108 runs. Jadeja scored 45 runs in 69 deliveries, hitting 5 fours. Jadeja was awarded MOTM for his all-round contribution with bowling(2 wickets), batting, and fielding.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul has once again silenced his critics by playing a match-winning knock under pressure. He contributed 75 runs in 91 balls with the help of 7 fours & 1 six.
