Indian Cricket Team had won the toss & decided to bowl first against the Australian Cricket Team. Hardik Pandya was leading the side in the absence of the regular captain Rohit Sharma who missed due to personal reasons.
The opening spell of Indian seamers was fruitful as Mohammed Siraj claimed the early wicket of Australia’s in-form opener Travis Head. Following the dismissal of the first wicket, Australian captain Steve Smith took the crease at no. 3.
Immediately after playing his first ball, Steve Smith appeared comfortable batting alongside Mitchell Marsh. Together, they added 72 runs for the second wicket partnership. Smith got caught by KL Rahul while cutting Pandya’s ball.

At the 20-over mark, Australia were comfortably placed at 129-3. During the 21st over, Kuldeep Yadav was bowling when Virat Kohli suggested a change to the fielding positions.
However, The stand-in captain walked away from the discussion, which made Virat Kohli fume at Hardik Pandya and it appeared visibly he got angry and said something. It is reasonable to assume that Pandya should have listened to Kohli, as he is one of the most senior players on the team.

During the powerplay overs, Australia lost one wicket while scoring 59 runs. Mitchell Marsh was playing aggressively and hitting the ball well. Marsh had hit 10 fours and 5 sixes, taking his total to 81 runs in 65 balls. Although he had played an excellent inning, Marsh would regret not being able to score a century.
The Indian Cricket Team emerged victorious over Australia in the 1st ODI, winning the match by 5 wickets. The hosts maintained their supremacy over the visitors. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial role in securing the win.
The duo made a match-winning partnership of 108 runs. Jadeja scored 45 runs in 69 deliveries, hitting 5 fours. Jadeja was awarded MOTM for his all-round contribution with bowling(2 wickets), batting, and fielding.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul has once again silenced his critics by playing a match-winning knock under pressure. He contributed 75 runs in 91 balls with the help of 7 fours & 1 six.
