IND vs NZ: Team India was defeated by a slick New Zealand team by 21 runs in the opening T20I at Ranchi’s JSCA International Stadium Compound.
Having won the toss and chosen to bowl first, the Men in Blue began the game. In spite of Daryl Mitchell and Devon Conway scoring brilliant fifties, they gave up 176/6 in their 20 overs.
The home team should have been optimistic about their ability to reach the goal since they anticipated a drizzle in the final minutes. They chose to bowl first, and that was one of the primary factors. They were shocked to see that there was little dew.
The field proceeded to provide a twist in the second half as well, with game-changing efforts from Mitchell Santner (2/11) and Michael Bracewell (2/31).

1. Arshdeep Singh
In the T20I tournament for India in 2022, left-arm bowler Arshdeep Singh was Team India’s breakthrough sensation. He took 33 wickets in 21 matches, averaging 18.12 and an 8.17 efficiency rate.
In addition, at the T20 World Cup in Australia, Arshdeep was the team’s best bowler. In his first ICC match, despite having no prior exposure on a large platform, he improved his performance when Jasprit Bumrah was out.
But even after coming back after a brief sabbatical, the 23-year-old has had trouble finding his groove. His problems with stepping over the line are causing Team India a tonne of trouble.
He delivered the second over of the innings in the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka in Pune earlier in the month. He sent down three consecutive no-balls. Arshdeep ultimately let up 19 runs in one over, giving Sri Lanka’s batting a head start.
Without a question, Arshdeep has been a fantastic discovery for the Men in Blue. However, he has to eliminate the no-ball issue from his method in order to consistently be productive.
2. Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan was recently praised for scoring the men’s ODI cricket quickest double century. On December 10, at Chattogram, against Bangladesh, he smashed 210 off 131 balls. He hasn’t been in contact much lately, though.
In his 12 games of T20I play, Kishan hasn’t reached fifty, to be more exact. His best score after his 54 against South Africa in Visakhapatnam on June 14, 2022, is a 37 against Sri Lanka on January 3 at the Wankhede in Mumbai.
He hasn’t even achieved three figures in his past three T20I innings. After being out for two, one, and four runs, respectively. Kishan has collected only 180 runs in 12 games at an aggregate of 15 in T20Is.

3. Deepak Hooda
Deepak Hooda is a batting all-around for Team India. He can count himself very fortunate to have been selected for the T20 International matches against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. His total performance in the format is not too awful. He scored one century and 366 runs in 19 games at an aggregate of 30.50 and a scoring rate of 147.58.
His T20I statistics since reaching 100 show that he has only collected 194 runs in 13 innings. At a dismal aggregate of 19.40 and a scoring rate of 132.87.
