Shivam Mavi showcased his bowling abilities pretty well against Sri Lanka. Notably, he brought the best out of himself by bagging as many as four wickets in his quota of 4 overs.

In fact, he gave away only 22 runs and maintained a superb economy rate of 5.50 which was really impressive. He got rid of Pathum Nissanka to get his maiden wicket in the shortest format.

Shivam Mavi who had a fabulous T20I debut against Sri Lanka has recalled his journey through the odds while speaking to the broadcasters after India’s win over Sri Lanka.

The 24-year-old Noida-born cricketer said he was waiting for six years after playing U-19. He further added that he literally hard to work his socks off in those six years, where he got injured as well.

“Was waiting for six years after playing U19. Had to work hard in those six years – got injured as well. For a while it looked like my dream will remain a dream. But I kept at it. Having played the IPL, the nervousness is a little less,” Shivam Mavi said at the game.

“My idea in the powerplay is to attack and get them out. Favourite dismissal was the first one, getting him bowled,” Shivam Mavi added after a superb performance on his debut.

Meanwhile, Team India took the first lead in the three-match T20I series. The Men in Blue pulled off a thriller win over Sri Lanka in the T20I opener. Deepak Hooda was the pick of the batters for Team India as he top-scored with 41 off just 23 balls.

Hooda constructed his innings with the help of 1 four and four sixes. Rightly so, he was named the man of the match for his batting performance.

Team India will be looking forward to putting up a clinical show in the second T20I. The second game between India and Sri Lanka will commence on January 5, Thursday at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
