India Playing XI 3rd Test: Rohit Sharma and Company play Australia in the third match of the Border Gavaskar Series in Indore, where a victory would guarantee a spot in the World Test Championship.
Rahul Dravid must decide on his starting lineup for the game after resounding victories in the first two matches. KL Rahul’s position in the squad is uncertain now that the vice-captaincy has been removed, although Axar Patel is expected to remain in the current squad.
The decision to include KL Rahul in the starting Eleven is giving both Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid major headaches. Rahul’s position on the squad is precariously precarious now that he has lost his vice-captaincy. Rahul has been under fire from cricket commentators for his inability to make significant runs despite possessing opportunities to do so.
Rahul has participated in 47 Test matches for his country, but he hasn’t managed to score 25 runs in any of his previous 10 games and has a poor aggregate of only 35. Now, the issue of KL Rahul‘s replacement emerges.

There is an easy solution. India offers a wide range of choices. Shubman Gill, a young person, is eager for his opportunity.
India Playing XI 3rd Test: Shubman Gill or KL Rahul?
Throughout the past month, Shubman Gill had been in excellent form, smashing century and double hundred. Rahul, though, was retained by the administration as the second opener.
Being practically his final opportunity to come up and contribute some runs to the score, the coaching staff will continue to have trust in Rahul in this game.
KL Rahul’s recent performance in Test Cricket:
MATCH | Bat | Date | Ground | Format |
India vs Australia | 17 & 1 | 17-Feb-2023 | Delhi | Test |
India vs Australia | 20 | 09-Feb-2023 | Nagpur | Test |
India vs Bangladesh | 10 & 2 | 22-Dec-2022 | Mirpur | Test |
India vs Bangladesh | 22 & 23 | 14-Dec-2022 | Chattogram | Test |
Shubman Gill must still wait while KL Rahul has the opportunity to participate in the Test match. Ishan Kishan is yet another strong starter in addition to Gill, although he is presently competing with KS Bharat for a berth in the squad as the wicketkeeper.
Axar Patel is to be Retained:
The Indian squad is prepared to keep Axar Patel among them despite giving up a speed option. Red-soil surface with bounce has been set up at the Holkar Surface at Indore Complex.
Both groups have historically competed on spin-heavy surfaces with two bowlers from each squad leading the bowling attack.
The pitch’s potential for pace and bounce, though, may entice India to select three bowlers.
But, Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma would decide to use two pacers, giving Axar Patel an opportunity to demonstrate his wizardry against the Australians.
