IPL 2023: Gujarat Titans (GT) have already received a great deal of praise for their performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Before the IPL 2022 mega-auction, they signed several players on discount terms after selecting Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill in the draft.
GT didn’t get carried away at the IPL 2023 auction; instead, they concentrated on the roster gaps they had. The majority of the Titans’ star players are signed to reasonable contracts.
Two of the other names on the squad, who haven’t even played for the team yet, have commanded price tags that they arguably don’t deserve. Here are three GT players with expensive IPL 2023 contracts.
IPL 2023: Here are 3 GT Players Who Might Not perform as their Worth
Jayant Yadav

At the IPL 2022 mega-auction, Jayant Yadav was purchased by Gujarat Titans for 1.7 crore, which seems excessive for a player of his age and quality. The all-rounder has only made 19 appearances in the IPL during his career and has yet to play for the Titans.
Jayant can score some quiet runs and is a competent off-spinner on turning surfaces, but he is not a dependable all-arounder in T20 cricket. For the course of his eight-season IPL career, he has only amassed 40 runs and eight wickets.
This demonstrates unequivocally that clubs haven’t been able to depend on the veteran over time. It is still unclear why GT spent 1.7 crores on Jayant.
Shivam Mavi
At the IPL 2023 auction, Shivam Mavi was GT’s standout purchase; they paid 6 crores for the youngster.
In 32 games over the course of his IPL career, Mavi has taken 30 wickets at an 8.71 economy rate. Although he has a high potential, he is unreliable in every aspect of T20 innings, and lately, both his pace and his control over his variations have gotten worse.
The main factor that led GT to choose to spend a significant fee was his batting prowess. Their lower tier, which had a lean appearance the previous year, can gain some strength from the youngster. Mavi, though, has just amassed 51 runs in his IPL career and still has a long way to go.

Rahul Tewatia

One of the notable players at the IPL 2022 mega-auction was Rahul Tewatia. The all-rounder, who had just put in a couple of outstanding performances for the Rajasthan Royals, ignited a bidding war that came to an end when GT decided they would pay GT 9 crore for his services.
Tewatia contributed significantly to the Titans’ victory last season, scoring 217 runs at an average of 31 and a strike rate of 147.62. He participated in all three departments and completed a few games. The leg-spinner, who had an economy rate of 12.67 and only sent down 36 balls in IPL 2022, was, however, hardly ever utilized with the ball.
Tewatia is a valuable addition to any T20 team in the globe, but his one-dimensional hitting will eventually be exposed. In addition, his lack of bowling experience makes his price seem out of scale.
