IPL 2023: At the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) sale, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) didn’t have much cash on hand. They didn’t make any high-profile acquisitions because they had only 8.75 crores available.
That was partially caused by the fact that RCB’s money is being devoured by a small number of players. Others have performed poorly, while artists like Wanindu Hasaranga have lived up to their price tags.
Even players who have excelled could be offered excessively lucrative contracts for the upcoming IPL season. Here are three RCB players who have excessively expensive IPL 2023 contracts.

3. Josh Hazlewood
This one is a little bit severe. One of the best all-format bowlers in the game, Josh Hazlewood had a standout IPL 2022 season playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The tall quick provided skipper Faf du Plessis breakthroughs whenever needed, returning 20 wickets in 12 matches at an economy rate of 8.11. But does Hazlewood provide enough value for the money at 7.75 crores? He isn’t as quick or as dependable at the death as some of the other top pacers in the league.
Yes, the Australian can play the middle-over enforcer position well and is a formidable danger with the new ball, but there are many other players who can perform in RCB’s place. More significantly, in the game’s shortest format, Hazlewood appears to be out of tricks. He has participated in 11 T20 Internationals since September 2022 and has gone wicketless in four of them while giving up 35 runs or more in six.

2. Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli’s pay at RCB has frequently been the subject of heated discussion. The former captain used to score tonnes of runs and lead his team to championship games, but he hasn’t been able to adapt to the T20 game’s ever-changing requirements.
In each of his last three IPL seasons, Virat Kohli‘s strike rate has been under 125, and over his last two seasons, he has only made 746 runs.
The star batter is synonymous with RCB and has vowed to finish his career with the team, but his results haven’t been good enough to justify the 15 crores Bangalore paid to keep him after the mega-auction in 2022.

1. Harshal Patel
With 32 kills, Harshal Patel, the IPL 2021 Purple Cap champion, appeared to have the league under control. The pacer had a powerful slower ball, a variety of other pitches, and, to cap it all off, he could also bat.
In the IPL 2022 mega-auction, Harshal returned to RCB for a price of 10.75 crore, which is absurd given how his results have declined since then. He performed poorly for India in T20I contests as well, taking just 19 wickets in 15 matches during the IPL 2022.
Harshal is no longer the important death bowler he once was because he lost his spot in the national team. If he doesn’t deliver notable results in the IPL 2023, RCB may have to think about releasing him.
