IPL Auction 2023: The paramountcy of the Indian Premier League (IPL) keeps augmenting season by season. Every year, the biggest T20 carnival around the globe opens up an obscured chapter in the books of cricket. The IPL is perhaps an embodiment of how a T20 league should operate; the build-up, the stagecraft, and a complete crowd-pleaser – the IPL never disappoints.
The IPL is truly a razzle-dazzle in modern-day cricket, and players from every corner of the world yearn to take part in it. The franchises and participants also eagerly wait for the IPL auction every year.
Having said that, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday confirmed that the IPL 2023 Player Auction will be held on December 23, 2022, in Kochi, and will include a total of 991 players, 714 Indian and 277 overseas. 185 capped players, 786 players uncapped, and 20 players from Associate Nations also are on the roster.
Some big names such as Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson have registered for the auction while some experienced campaigners are set to miss the IPL 2023 Auction.
Dwayne Bravo and Steve Smith are Among the Big Names Set to Miss the IPL 2023 Auction

The majority of the 277 international players hail from Australia (57) and South Africa (52). Ben Stokes and Sam Curran, who was the player of the tournament in the recently concluded World T20 are set to be among the 31 England players. Following is a country-wise list of the 277 overseas players:

Surprisingly, international dignitaries such as Dwayne Bravo, Steve Smith, and Pat Cummins have forfeited the IPL auction. Kasi Viswanathan, Chennai Super Kings’ CEO, recently justified the reason behind Bravo’s release by quoting, “Age was a big factor,”
The 39-year-old Dwayne Bravo is the leading wicket-taker in the IPL, with 183 scalps in 161 matches. Moreover, the right-handed batter also bagged up 1560 runs with a strike rate of 129.6 in the IPL. Bravo was first purchased by Mumbai Indians before he went on to win three IPL championships for CSK
As far as the notable Aussie players are concerned, Steve Smith Pat Cummins and Marnus Labuschangne would be accentuating the Ashes at the moment, which takes place in July next year.
Both Smith and Labuschangne went unsold in the previous year’s IPL mega-auction. Nonetheless, their countrymen Travis Head, David Warner, and Cameron Green have registered for the auction despite the Ashes nearly clashing with the IPL 2023.
Ajinkya Rahane, who had a penurious last season with Kolkata Knight Riders has set his base price at 75 Lakh, while Jaydev Unadkat, who also had an analogous outing as Rahane is demanding 50 Lakhs. Moreover, former Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal. Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav are the only Indian players present in the IPL 2023 Auction marque list.
