Harry Brook IPL, IPL 2023: The English middle-order batter Harry Brook is looking forward to showing his attacking style of cricket in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He considers the IPL the best franchise tournament in the world, given that top cricketers aspire to participate in it.
Harry Brook is a name that has been making waves in the world of cricket. His consistent performances have led to many experts tipping him as a future England player. He has been praised for his sound technique, temperament, and his ability to play both spin and pace well.
The 24-year-old is set to participate in his first IPL season. He was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping price tag of 13.25 Crores. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals went on a bidding war when Brook was being auctioned for the IPL.
The Englishman was the third-most expensive English player in IPL auction history behind Sam Curran and Ben Stokes. He has a strike rate of 148.68 in 99 T20 games and has a century and nine fifties to his name.

Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo Harry Brook said, “It’s the best franchise competition in the world. Everyone wants to play in it. There are a lot of good players there, and hopefully, I get some opportunities to express how I’m playing at the minute – and show the world I’m capable of scoring runs anywhere.”
The right-handed player went on to speak about his role model, Kevin Pietersen with whom he shares some similarities as a batsman, he said:
“During my younger days, I was an ardent admirer of his batting. He had a proactive approach and aimed to dominate bowlers by applying pressure on them. I can relate to that style of play since it aligns with my playing style as well. Although he had a broader stance while batting, and I have a reasonably wide stance, he was considerably taller than me.”

In addition, Brook explained that his style of play aligns with England’s attacking approach to Test cricket, and he attributed this philosophy to the leadership of skipper Ben Stokes. He also mentioned:
“I consider myself fortunate to have been included in the Test team that plays with such an optimistic and entertaining brand of cricket. It complements my playing style perfectly. I don’t perceive myself as a leader, merely someone who follows instructions. Presently, Stokesy is leading the team, and the way he approaches his cricket is exhilarating to watch.”
