At number five, all-rounder Ben Stokes can mark his presence due to his ability to play an anchor as well as a finisher. Afterward, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni are the designated finishers. Shivam Dube can also be in the XI due to bowling options like Stokes.

Chennai Super Kings premier pacer Deepak Chahar will lead the bowling attack if he recovers from injury. The team found an impressive left-arm pacer in Mukesh Choudhary, who improved his performances in the powerplay as the season progressed.
It will be a swap between Maheesh Theekshana and Kyle Jamison according to the pitches in IPL 2023. The spinner Theekshana could play in venues like Chennai or Jaipur, which have slow pitches on offer.
