Rinku Singh KKR, IPL 2023: Rinku Singh could lead the two-time champion KKR for the upcoming season of IPL as their skipper Shreyas Iyer is likely to miss out due to a lower-back injury he suffered in the fourth test against Australia.
Shreyas Iyer got injured his lower back while fielding in the first innings as he felt discomfort after diving to stop a boundary. Later he was sent for scans and did not come out to bat in the second innings of the match.
KKR found themselves in trouble two weeks ahead of the IPL as their skipper’s availability for the campaign is still doubtful. In case Iyer is not available, who would lead the side? However, KKR has a few names who could lead the side.
Shakib-al-Hasan, Nitish Rana, and Tim Southee are the experienced names to captain the side. However, the team’s social handle dropped a hint about who will lead the franchise in the 16th edition of the tournament.

IPL 2023: Rinku Singh, KKR’s new captain?
KKR recently posted a clip of Rinku Singh and that got fans speculating the left-handed batter could be named as their skipper. In the clip, Rinku is seen playing his trademark sweeps.
The Instagram handle of KKR posted a clip of Rinku Singh where the 25-year-old could be seen sweeping the ball in the nets along with the caption “This shot will sweep you off your feet”.

After the clip was shared, a fan commented where he wrote “Game Changer #Rinku”, to which the official handle of the franchise replied with “Our Skipper”. This whole interaction got fans scratching their heads and soon everyone started speculating that Rinku Singh could be named their captain.

Rinku’s consistent performances in domestic cricket earned him a spot in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad for the 2018 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his IPL debut against Delhi Daredevils and scored a quickfire 34 off just 24 balls.
The left-handed batsman did not play many matches for KKR until the 2022 season when he played 7 matches for the Knights, scoring 174 runs with an average of 34.80 and a strike rate of over 148.
