IPL 2023: Veteran cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is one of the top attacking openers in the world. The experienced southpaw is known to decimate the opposition from the word go.
He possesses a truckload of experience in his repertoire and which is exactly why he is a big threat to the opposition teams. Time and again, Dhawan broke the confidence of the bowlers with his fearless brand of cricket.
The southpaw was last seen during India’s tour of Zimbabwe. He was supposed to lead India but was replaced by Lokesh Rahul as captain at the last minute. India played three ODIs against Zimbabwe cricket team.
The Men in Blue came through with flying colours in each game of the ODI series. They completed a 3-0 clean sweep over the hosts with such ease.

India will play as many as three ODIs against the Black Caps, with the first ODI beginning on November 25, Friday. This time, Shikhar Dhawan will lead the team from the front.
Meanwhile, Dhawan made a bold statement after being appointed as the captain of Punjab Kings franchise.

There is absolutely no doubt that Shikhar Dhawan is turning out to be a pretty good captaincy material. He has been picking up lessons on the go and which is seen as a major improvement in terms of leadership.
Recently, he became the 14th captain of the Punjab franchise in the history of the IPL. He will be looking forward to leading the team from the front for the next season.
Dhawan has already played IPL final with Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad in his journey. He said he wants to play a final wit Punjab Kings and win the tournament.
He further added that he doesn’t feel any fear of losing his job. While speaking to ESPNCricinfo, he said, “Jobs come and go, no worries. We come into the world empty-handed and leave empty-handed. All this just remains here. I don’t feel any fear about losing the job.
“Just because I’m the captain, I don’t want to put that load on myself. Okay, I have to do it this way or that way. I will just play the game based on our team goals, based on what the team demands, what it needs.
“Our last season did not go as well as we would have liked. I knew there was a possibility. So I thought I will take the opportunity and bring the best energy to the table and take things forward and make an impact,” he added.
