IPL Auction 2023: The all-format batter, Harry Brook has been picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2023. Apart from Sunrisers, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore raised the paddle for the English batter. In a neck-neck fight with RR, SRH pulled the last plug to put the price, which was higher than Rajasthan’s total purse.
Harry Brook was already touted to be one of the expensive picks in the auction. However, the final amount came out to be 13.25 cr, and he became the first player to cross the 10 crore mark in the IPL Auction 2023.
2022 has been a sensational year for Harry Brook at the domestic and international levels. He made it to the England team by slamming 436 runs in 13 innings for Yorkshire in T20 Blast.
In his debut T20I series against Pakistan cricket team, Harry Brook emerged as the Player of the Tournament with 238 runs in six innings. Further, the youngster was the best batter for England in the Test series with 468 runs in five outings.
The consistent runs under his belt in the Asian conditions certainly impressed the franchises. The price tag is arguably high, but Harry Brook has been proficient across all formats.
Harry Brook hit successive centuries in three different venues in Pakistan. With the ability to hit spinners as well as pacers, Brook justifies the high price tag.

IPL Auction 2023: Sunrisers Hyderabad starts off the auction with Harry Brook’s bid
After releasing Kane Williamson and Nicholas Pooran, SRH had to fill the gap in the middle order. With the most purse amount left among the franchises, they purchased Harry Brook for 13.25 Crores.
Although the team had Aiden Markram and Glenn Phillips, they needed one more overseas batter, with an aggressive mindset. In the last few years, Harry Brook has ensured a quality strike rate for his respective teams.
The cricket fraternity were stunned by SRH’s big bid for Harry Brook in the IPL Auction 2023. Conversely, some fans welcomed Brook to the IPL and praised his talent, which will help SRH do well in IPL 2023.
