IPL Auction 2023: Former batter Suresh Raina has picked Sam Curran as the future captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL.

Sam Curran has been an exceptional player for the English team in international cricket in the last few years. Starting as a limited-overs specialist, Sam Curran forayed into the red-ball side as well.

To date, Curran has played 32 IPL matches, and scored 337 runs and bagged 32 wickets. Interestingly, he picked a hat-trick during his stint with Punjab Kings in the 2019 season.

The southpaw, Sam Curran then played for CSK in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. This is where he got international fame due to his all-round abilities’ in the shortest format.

However, the English all-rounder could not feature in the IPL 2022 due to injury concerns. Later in the T20 World Cup 2022, Sam Curran emerged as the ‘Player of the Tournament’ with 13 wickets.

The c scheduled in Kochi will be interesting for the cricket fraternity. Although only 405 players mark their presence in the final list, many big players and talented young players are present in the list.

Ahead of the IPL Auction 2023, former CSK batter Raina has reckoned that, “Sam Curran can be a future leader in CSK.”

CSK currently have 18 players in the squad, and need to fill up remaining seven spots. With two of them being overseas, they are likely to go hard after one overseas player. However, they have only 20.45 Crores purse left.
