Kapil Dev is Optimistic About Cricket Growing in the USA

Cricket in the USA Kapil Dev: Indian Cricket Legend Kapil Dev is hopeful that Cricket will reach new heights in the USA. The 1983 world cup winning captain attended an event held to launch of Indian American Unity Cricket League.

The discussions around cricket in the USA have been going on for the past few years. However, Cricket in the USA is not as popular as it is in other countries, such as India, England, Australia, and South Africa.

There are also a few professional leagues of cricket in the USA, such as the Major League Cricket (MLC) and the American Cricket Premier League (ACPL). These leagues feature both American and international players, and they have gained some attention from cricket fans in the US and around the world.

Despite the efforts to promote cricket in the US, the sport still faces several challenges, including a lack of infrastructure, limited funding, and a lack of mainstream media coverage.

Kapil Dev is hopeful Cricket will grow in the USA

“I hope one day America will take this game to the level where no country has seen,” Kapil said at an event held to launch of Indian American Unity Cricket League, which would be held later this year.

The event was attended by Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee, East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva disclosed that the Indian American Unity Cricket League is scheduled to take place in September.

Cricket was played before they even began. Among others, Congressman Seth Maganizer and Indian American Congressman Shri Thanedar were among the attendees, among others.

ICC has also shown its desire for the growth of cricket in the USA as the T20 World Cup 2024 will be hosted in the USA. Along with the United States, the hosting rights are shared by West Indies as well.

Not only ICC, but BCCI are also making efforts to grow cricket in the USA. In 2016, the West Indies and Indian teams played two T20I matches at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida. India won both matches.

Earlier Cricket all-star series was played in New York, Houston, and Los Angeles. The tournament consisted of three T20 matches with each team comprising of 15 players. The teams were named Sachin’s Blasters and Warne’s Warriors, and each match was played in front of a capacity crowd.

The recent developments show how hard cricketing bodies trying to promote Cricket in the USA. However, with the growing popularity of T20 cricket and the increasing diversity of the US population. There is hope that cricket will continue to gain a foothold in the country.
