Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes Sam Curran’s poor form with both the bat and the ball will hurt both MI Cape Town (MICT) and his IPL team Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Curran was the most expensive individual in IPL history. PBKS paid a stunning INR 18.5 crore in the IPL 2023 bidding process.
Sam Curran’s recent problems with both the bat and the ball, in Aakash Chopra’s opinion, would negatively affect not just his MICT squad but also his IPL side, Punjab Kings.
Sam Curran hasn’t yet delivered his maximum in the SA20 league, although being both the most expensive individual in the IPL era and the player of the tournament in the T-20 World Cup in 2022.

The all-rounder has also been named the T20 World Cup 2022 player of the competition. Unfortunately, he has failed to make an impact in the SA20 tournament.
Aakash Chopra on Sam Curran:
The following is what Aakash Chopra had to comment about Sam Curran’s performance in both bowling and batting in a clip on his Youtube page:
“Sam Curran hasn’t been bowling or batting all that well so far. Even if he is currently playing for MICT, folks at Punjab Kings will still be hurt and hope that he regains his form because they invested a significant amount of money in him.”

While MICT does have a number of elite bowlers, Jofra Archer will no longer be available due to his restriction to just two SA20 matches.
In the most recent encounter, the Durban Super Giants completely destroyed MICT’s bowling, and Chopra believes that this has given them food for thought.
Due to Archer’s absence, speedster Kagiso Rabada may be inserted into the starting lineup. The senior cricketer said something regarding this:
“The Supergiants gave the MICT bowlers a dose of reality. Since he was only permitted to play two games, which he has already done, Archer won’t be there right now. Therefore, it’s possible that Kagiso Rabada will replace him on the squad.”
Crucial Year for Punjab Kings:
As we’ve seen before, PBKS gets off to a strong start but is unable to build on it. We can anticipate some intense cricket with Shikhar Dhawan serving as the team’s captain. This time, the BCCI will use a home-and-away venue arrangement for the competition so that we can see a fair bat-and-ball match.
