Dewald Brevis thinks being a part of the Indian Premier League offers the opportunity to gain rich knowledge from experienced cricketers.
Dewald Brevis burst into the scene by being the top performer for the Proteas in the 2022 U19 World Cup. He slammed 506 runs and scalped seven wickets in six games, and was the best all-around performer for the team.
Soon, he got a contract with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022, where he shone brightly as well. In seven games, the 19-year-old, Dewald Brevis, garnered 161 runs and picked a solitary wicket from Virat Kohli.
In one of his outings, Dewald Brevis smoked 28 runs off a single over against the experienced spinner Rahul Chahar. The over comprised of four sixes and a four, which etched his name into the minds of cricket fans.

On the back of IPL performances, Dewald Brevis got the chance to feature in the Caribbean Premier League 2022 as well. He scored 125 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 154.32.
Dewald Brevis relishing the challenge of sharing a dressing room with top players
The young batter reckoned that playing in big tournaments has helped him to learn and evolve with each passing game. Brevis shared dressing rooms with players like Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah in IPL 2022.
In particular, Brevis acknowledged the advice of KL Rahul, who told him to play his natural game, which has helped him so far to progress well. Also called as Baby AB due to his batting style and backlift, Brevis is a quality performer when given full license.
“Sharing the dressing room and being on the field with those big players was really amazing. During games and throughout the tournament, you spend time with the guys and there are little pieces of advice that you get. KL Rahul told me just to be true to myself and I will always remember that.”
Recently, Brevis smacked 162 off 57 balls for Titans against Knights in the CSA T20 Challenge 2022/23.
The youngster will next be seen in the SA20 league representing MI Capetown. It will be interesting to witness if Brevis can continue his rich form until the forthcoming IPL season as well. If the swashbuckling batter continues his dream run, he can may well be earning a national call-up soon.
