One of the attractions of Sunday’s low-scoring drama in Lucknow was Indian Kuldeep Yadav’s sweep of New Zealander Daryl Mitchell.
As the pitch began to straighten, Mitchell tried evading Kuldeep’s offerings. The chinaman spinner delivered a ball that missed the off-stump on the last ball of the tenth over. The ball spun quickly, ripped through Mitchell’s bat and pad, shook his stumps, and left the Kiwis shaky at 48/4.
The batsman had no idea as he had to make his way back to the grandstand, wearing an expression that suggested confusion.
Kuldeep Yadav discussed the departure with colleagues Yuzvendra Chahal and Suryakumar Yadav in footage that the BCCI uploaded. He stated:

“(On Mitchell’s removal) I didn’t design that dismissal, but I was aware that the incoming throws would be challenging to handle given how the pitch was shaping up. Since the pitch didn’t call for much flight, I was able to change my tempo nicely.”
Yuzvendra Chahal made the decision to bowl flatter and faster in Lucknow, similar to Kuldeep Yadav. Chahal believed that the pitch had a good turn and that it wasn’t necessary to exert further efforts to provide the ball with that air.
Kuldeep Yadav On His Bowling:
“When I delivered my first shot and it landed square, I knew this surface would make it difficult to get even 110 to 120 runs. I bowled during the powerplay so I had to be careful not to try for any boundaries so I delivered a little bit quicker.”
When he defeated Finn Allen in his initial over during the game on Sunday, Chahal also broke the record for most wickets in men’s T20Is. He explained how he felt after accomplishing such a unique achievement and incorporated:
“Playing for India is always a joy, and it’s always exceptional when you win the most wickets in whatever format. I never imagined I’d be able to pull this off.” The last match is scheduled for Wednesday, February 1 in Ahmedabad, and the three-match series is now tied at 1-1.
After just scoring 5 runs, Glenn Phillips was subsequently sent back to the stadium by Deepak Hooda. Daryl Mitchell, a formidable batter, then came to bat.
Mitchell was quickly dismissed by Indian spinners after reaching 8 runs. At 48/4 after 10 overs, New Zealand was in trouble.
Due to their constant wicket losses, the opponents weren’t able to surpass 99 runs in 20 overs. One wicket was shared by Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Deep Hooda, and Washington Sundar.
In total, Arshdeep Singh took two wickets. For New Zealand, Mitchell Santner earned the most with 19* from 23 balls.
