PSL 2023: Mohammad Rizwan emotionally distraught after Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars beat Multan Sultans in a thrilling PSL Final. Multan Sultans was outplayed by Afridi’s all-round performance as the latter scored crucial 44 runs off just 15 balls and took 4 wickets in the match.
This was the second consecutive season when Lahore Qalandars defeated Multan Sultans in a PSL Final. Both sides also played in the Final in 2022 where the outcome was the same as this season.
Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi led his team from the front during the final of the PSL 2023, taking Lahore Qalandars to victory in the final encounter against Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans in Lahore and defending the title.
With the win over Multan, Lahore Qalandars successfully defended their title, becoming the first team to do so. In a thrilling final match, the defending champions managed to secure a narrow victory by just one run.

In a nail-biting final at Lahore, with only four runs required on the last ball of the match, Shaheen Afridi and David Wiese combined to run out Khushdil Shah, securing a thrilling victory for Lahore Qalandars over Multan Sultans.
The close-fought contest left Multan’s skipper Mohammad Rizwan emotionally distraught, as Lahore Qalandars pulled off a stunning one-run victory in the clash of the Pakistani tournament.

After a quick-fire performance with the bat, Shaheen Afridi stepped up with an outstanding display of bowling in the high-scoring match. MOTM Afridi took the wickets of Pollard (19), Usama Mir (0), Tim David (20), and Anwar Ali (1). He ended up with four wickets, conceding 51 runs in four overs.
Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans put up a strong fight against Afridi’s Lahore Qalandars in the PSL 2023 final. However, Afridi’s heroics in the final over proved to be the deciding factor, as Lahore Qalandars registered a narrow one-run victory over their opponents.
Rizwan, the Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter, played a useful knock of 34 off 23 balls, while Rilee Rossouw scored a fighting half-century for Multan Sultans in the final.
After the match, Afridi expressed his joy at reaching the final for the second time and winning again, “To reach the final a second time and win again is a great feeling. Credit to the entire team and coaching staff for keeping us comfortable. I think it was tough early on when the momentum was swinging between them and us.”
