Jasprit Bumrah Injury, IPL 2023: Indian Premier pacesetter Jasprit Bumrah will miss the upcoming Indian Premier League season and the Test World Cup final as he may take some time to recover from injury.

Bumrah has been out of cricket since September 2022. He has missed major tournaments such as last year’s Asian Cup and his T20 World Cup. He also failed to qualify for the ongoing borders Gavaskar trophy, essential for India to qualify for the Test World Cup final. Now it is very unlikely that he will play for Mumbai Indians in his IPL next season.

BCCI sources say Bumrah’s injury is so serious. He could miss the majority of cricket in the coming months. India tries to make up his space in the team.

The report further states that BCCI wants the lead pacer to participate in the ODI World Cup in October-November and does not want to miss a chance regarding his injury as he is still in poor health.

The right winger last played for the country at home in his T20I match against Australia on 25 September 2022. He has since been in rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

Previously, Jasprit Bumrah was poised to return to competitive cricket with the Sri Lanka ODIs last month. But he was later ruled out after failing to recover in time. The leading pacemaker has come under scrutiny recently for his injury vulnerability. India missed his service badly at last year’s T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians are looking to make a comeback in the 2023 IPL after a dismal last season. The news would be a big blow for them. Last season, MI have secured just four wins from 14 games.

He was initially named after the Limited Overs series against Sri Lanka but was pulled from the team at the last minute when the NCA and BCCI decided he had not yet regained full fitness.

But even without Bumrah, the Indian team is currently on top form, with leading Australia 2-0 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

They beat the Australians in the opening match in Nagpur by an inning and 123 runs before a six-wicket victory in the Second Test at New Delhi to retain the trophy for the fourth consecutive season. The third test will be held in Indore from March 1st.
