PAK VS ENG: Michael Atherton, a former captain of the England National Cricket Side who oversaw the team in 54 Tests and 43 ODIs, has said that the all-arounder Ben Stokes is to the England setup what Virat Kohli is to the Indian National Cricket Team.

The Three Lions have won six of their first seven tests under Ben Stokes, who took over as Test captain earlier this year after the squad had a protracted stretch of poor performance.

England has embraced a new “Baseball” strategy under Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum, which refers to the aggressive and exciting type of cricket. Atherton said having a player of Stokes’ height and personality who still values Test cricket in the team is a very important thing in an interview with Sky Sports.

He said that Liam Livingstone, a 29-year-old batting all-rounder, was persuaded to play Test cricket in part by England’s red-ball captain. “Stokes’ significance to this endeavor is comparable to Virat Kohli’s in India.

Since Kohli is the most significant cricketer in India and possibly the entire globe, young players took his advice when he said, “I still think playing Test cricket is a good endeavor to be involved in.”

PAK VS ENG: Nasser Hussain On Young Players Selection in the Team

Nasser Hussain, a countryman of Michael Atherton. Advised the young players to concentrate exclusively on scoring runs rather than focusing on a particular style of play. “You’re only going to be judged on the runs, if I were to give any new player guidance at all.”

No matter what Stokes and McCullum may say. “We want these types of players,” that is not the way you play. Alastair Cook-like players can still play in this side if you score runs because they scored the runs. The currency to keep in the side is still that, so go get it.

The opening Test match of England’s tour of Pakistan in 2022 will take place at Rawalpindi from December 1 to 5. The final two games will then be played in Multan (December 9–13) and Karachi (December 17–21).
