PCB: The last year’s Asia Cup 2022 tournament ended in favour of the Sri Lankans. Team India’s route map was blocked in the wake of their losses against the likes of Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
In the end, Pakistan locked horns with the Sri Lankan cricket team in the Asia Cup 2022 final. However, Sri Lanka had the last laugh in the battle.
Rightly so, they won their sixth Asia Cup title, one less than Team India (who won seven Asia Cup titles). It will be quite interesting to see which team will make it to the finals and win the title in the next tournament in 2023.
In the latest development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now rubbished the talks of government clearances for the teams taking part in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.

The statement comes in the wake of a report that proposed all the participating teams in the Asia Cup 2023 have been instructed to get government clearance to fly all the way to Pakistan for the competition.
ACC organized a board meeting last week to decide the fate of the tournament
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) ran an executive board meeting last week to resolve the fate of Pakistan’s hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2023 tournament.
Needless they could not come to a firm conclusion in their meeting. As a result, the members of the board meeting decided to postpone the subject until March 2023.
Meanwhile, a report in ESPNcricinfo claimed that all the participating teams will have to get government clearance in a bid to travel to Pakistan for the competition.
On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) dismissed those talks highlighting the recent tours of Pakistan by the likes of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh respectively.
“Cricinfo, in its story under the headline Decision on Asia Cup venue postponed to March 2023, stated: ‘In addition, all ACC members are believed to have been asked to seek their own government’s positions on whether their teams can travel to Pakistan. The PCB wishes to clarify that no such matters were raised in the meeting, nor did any member indicate any intention to seek government clearance for playing in Pakistan.
“Sri Lanka has recently visited Pakistan in 2017 and 2019, while Bangladesh has toured Pakistan in 2020. In the 2023-2027 Future Tours Programme (FTP), which has been agreed upon and announced by all ICC Members, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka have confirmed their tours to Pakistan,” PCB wrote in a statement.
